How to electrify your new year’s resolutions!

Holiday greetings from ElectrifyPDX! We hope you have a delightful and cozy season of celebration. As you ring in 2025, consider adding a few of these electrifying resolutions to your list of goals for the year to come:

Sign up for community solar

Subscribe to a solar farm, get renewable energy and a discount on your electric bill! The Oregon Community Solar Program powers the homes of thousands of Oregonians with solar energy through subscriptions to large off-site solar projects built locally within your utility’s service area.

It’s easy to enroll, there are no up-front costs, and you can save 5% (or up to 15%!) on your electric bill once the solar farm is built and activated. Renters, home owners, businesses, HOAs, and nonprofits with electric bills can all sign up. All you need is a recent electric bill or your account number. Learn more about community solar

Get an energy audit

Before taking the leap to replace a major system like your HVAC, get the full picture of your home’s energy use, comfort, and safety. A home energy audit provides a roadmap to increasing your home’s efficiency, showing you exactly what needs upgrading and what only needs to be sealed or repaired. It can help you determine how much energy your home uses, where your home is inefficient, and which problem areas and fixes you should prioritize to save energy and improve the comfort of your home. It also offers holistic recommendations that are specific to your home, taking your home’s entire ecosystem into account. Learn more about energy audits

Get three estimates for the next electrification project you’d like to tackle

A great first step for your next project is to get estimates from trusted contractors and explore available incentives. It costs nothing to get quotes! Compare multiple estimates, and get the details on the incentives and rebates that will make your project more affordable. See our list of local electrification-friendly contractors

Try an induction cooktop

Thinking of ditching the gas stove? Curious about induction? A great way to try out this marvelous technology is with a portable induction cooktop. A quality model can be purchased for around $100. (Or visit one of our upcoming events, where we do giveaways for an induction cooktop!)

Go to the Electrify Portland! Home Electrification Fair in 2025

Electrify Portland is a fun and inspiring way to meet local experts, try and see efficient equipment like heat pumps and electric fireplaces, test ride e-bikes, watch induction cooking demonstrations, and more! Learn more about Electrify Portland
