Oregon EV Rebates return—for a limited time!

Apr 11, 2024

If you’ve been thinking about buying or leasing an electric vehicle, then this spring may be the perfect time. In addition to available federal tax credits, the Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate program offers a cash rebate for Oregon drivers who buy or lease an EV. The program will be open from April 3-June 3, 2024, and vehicles must be purchased or leased during that time. The rebates are available until funds are depleted, then eligible applicants are put on a waitlist for 2025.

There are three options for the program:

  • Standard rebate: No income requirement, for new electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles under $50k. Rebate: $750 for motorcycles, $1,500 for battery under 10kWh, $2,500 for battery of 10kWh or more.
  • Charge Ahead rebate: Income below 400% of federal poverty guideline, for new and used electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles under $50k. Rebate: $5,000 for new or used eligible vehicles
  • Standard and Charge Ahead rebate: Income below 400% of federal poverty guideline, for new electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles under $50k. Rebate: $6,500 for battery under 10kWh, $7,500 for battery of 10kWh or more.

Here are some helpful tips and facts about the program:

  • Vehicles must be purchased or leased from a certified dealer or original manufacturer. No person-to-person sales are allowed.
  • Vehicles have to be purchased between April 3-June 3, and applications must be submitted within 6 months of purchase or lease date.
  • You must register the car in Oregon and retain the registration for at least 24 months.
  • Rebate availability is dependent on program funding—check out the Available Rebate Funding page to see what the current availability is. The starting pool of funding is roughly $8 million dollars.
  • If you income-qualify for the Charge Ahead rebate, you can get pre-approved prior to purchase. Once approved you’ll get a voucher which can be applied toward the purchase or lease at the point of sale.
  • Federal tax credits also apply! Incentives are based on income, and only certain EVs are eligible. Get up to $7,500 tax credit on a new EV, up to $4,000 on a used EV, and up to $1,000 off an EV charger. Get more info from Rewiring America and search for eligible vehicles here
